      • Race listed as Mulatto in the 1910, 1920 US Federal Census Records
      • In 1910, at age 16, she was employed as a housekeeper for a private family
      • Married Howard Cavanagh in Cadillac, Wexford County, MI when she was 22 years old and had two daughters, Elizabeth and Marion
      • At age 28, her husband, Howard drowned at a 4th of July family picnic leaving her and her two young daughters
      • Less than a year after her husband’s death, on May 20, 1922, she married Vincent Barton, a railroad worker and recent widow and father to his young son.
      • She passed away in September 1963, at age 70 and is buried in Fairview Cemetery, in Salida, Chaffee County, Colorado

        • In 1888, at age 18, she married Franklin Pierce Hughes in Berrien County, MI.
        • Over a span of 15 years, she and Frank had 7 children including a baby boy who was born prematurely in 1908 and did not live.
        • In both the 1910 and 1920 US Census Records she and her children are listed as Mulatto.
        • She passed away on January 28, 1932, at age 61 in Missaukee County from Diabetes Mellitus, a condition that according to death record, she had for 10 years. She is buried in Mount View Cemetery in McBain, Missaukee County, MI.
